Interview Criminal Minds Executive Producer Harry Bring
Interview Criminal Minds Executive Producer Harry Bring
Criminal Minds The veteran American TV show ended earlier this year, with its 15th
season, recently the show has become more popular than ever, due to
endless re-runs and new fans enjoying the show, during the world
pandemic I had the chance to catch up with Harry about what life is
after the show has been like.
What have you been doing with your time since Criminal Minds ended?
HB: I
spent the first few months recovering from some surgery, then I could
really relax. After the first of the year, I started looking around
for a show or a pilot. I interviewed for 2 that I didn’t get, I got
two offers that I didn’t accept.
Are there any shows you're going to be working on soon?
HB: I
just accepted a Pilot with Erica Messer, our showrunner from Criminal
Minds. How blessed am I? It is a Medical drama produced by Fox for
the ABC Network. Jon Chu is direction. Jon directed “Crazy Rich
Asians”. I’m really excited about this show and to continue to
work for Ms. Messer. It preps in July and shoots in August. What city
will we use to shoot in is still unknown?
What has been the highlight of your career?
HB: There
are so many. Most people are lucky to work on one or two long-running
shows and I’ve been blessed to work on 4. Melrose Place, The
XFiles, Army Wives, and Criminal Minds. The last show that someone
works on is usually one’s favorite and I have to say Criminal Minds
is the highlight of my career. The X-Files would be my favorite for
being able to do so many interesting and different things. But
Criminal Minds is my highlight because of the cast, crew, family
atmosphere, and my 9 years there.
How
are you finding the whole quarantine life right now?
HB: Initially
the quarantine was really great. For the first time in decades, I got
to do absolutely NOTHING! Now, after 3 months I’m going a little
stir crazy and itching to go back to work.
Now
that things have eased up a bit I am able to see my grandkids which
is great, They come over to swim almost every day
If they did a Criminal Minds reboot/movie would you work on it?
HB: If they asked my I would jump at the chance. I’m no Spring chicken so I’d love it if a reboot would happen before I hang up my spurs.
What's your favorite part of being an executive producer?
HB: I
love getting a script and figuring out how to put it on film/tape.
The challenge is tough sometimes and that’s what makes it exciting.
When I read the written word and then try to imagine how to produce
it. Many times I can’t see the “how” and that’s why I love
collaborating with our crews.
If you could go back and work on any show again what would it be?
HB: First would be Criminal Minds, the Xfiles.
What did you enjoy most about working on Criminal Minds?
HB: The family atmosphere amongst the cast and crew. We were there to get a job done but we all enjoyed each other so much it made it real easy.
What is the one thing you've found yourself doing a lot of through this pandemic?
HB: Catching
up and binge-watch all the shows I don’t have time to watch because
of long workdays. The thing I miss most is Sports. I go to a lot of
live games and that has been taken away and I miss that the most.
