Interview With Lindsey Sites

Interview With Lindsey Sites

I got the opportunity to Interview Theatre actress and  TV/Movie newcomer Lindsey Sites. She's a gorgeous talented young woman, everybody needs to check her out.

What made you want to go into the acting industry?

LS: When I was little my parents sort of forced me into a local summer arts program where one of the classes was acting. I was scared out of my mind. But for some reason, I kept going back, and then eventually I was so in love with it that the fear became a secondary thing to deal with. I don’t think there’s any better high than being on stage. Then as I got older, I wanted to expand my acting into film and TV.

When did you first realize you wanted to become an actress?

LS: When I was in 9th grade we finally finished building the Landis Arts Center here in Petersburg. That was when West Virginia Theatre East did its first big musical in years. I was cast as a doo-wop girl in Little Shop of Horrors. It was sometime during that show I knew I wanted to do that for the rest of my life.

You have many talents, from acting to soccer to instruments, can you share some of them with us?

LS: You pretty much covered them haha. Soccer was my first love. When I joined the band I picked up the alto sax, and eventually ended up marching with a bari sax.

You recently filmed a part in Back Fork Movie, How did you get the role, and what was it like working with Josh Stewart?

LS: Honestly, I don’t know. I reached out to Josh as soon as I saw they were trying to fund the project because West Virginia is so close to my heart, and the subject of opioid abuse was something I was actually writing a paper on at the time. Working with Josh was an absolute pleasure. He was totally down to Earth and wanted to make sure everyone was comfortable with what they were doing. You don’t always have that in directors. He’s a really fun person to be around. I enjoyed every minute of working with him, and I hope we get to work together again in the future.

What was it like working on Back Fork Film, with lots of different actors and actresses from hit TV shows and Movies?

LS: Everyone working on Back Fork was incredible. The crew was amazing. I was definitely intimidated to be working with them, but they were super nice, and I enjoyed seeing their work in person.

Do you enjoy theatre work more than film and TV?

LS: I enjoy them all in really different ways. In musical theater, my drama queen side really gets to come out and have fun. Like I said before, the high I get from being on stage in front of a live audience is like non-other. With film and TV, there’s so much more going on behind the scenes and it’s pretty amazing to watch. Plus, you get to reach a larger audience. Either way, I get to meet really talented people and I’ve made some of my best friends through acting.

What do you enjoy doing when you aren't acting?

LS: When I’m not acting I’m usually working on school - I’m currently working on my masters. But other than that I love to read, box, target shoot, and see other theatre shows.

What is your favorite part about performing on stage?

LS: Again, it’s The high, haha! Also, when I play characters like Dorothy or Belle, there are always little kids that want to come up and take pictures after the show. I love the looks on their faces, and how excited they are. It makes all the hours of hard work really worth it.

Who is your biggest inspiration in the industry and why?

LS: Oh that’s a tough one. There are so many! I guess I would have to say Ellen Pompeo. I’ve watched her acting evolve since the beginning of Grey’s Anatomy and she always delivers a moving performance. And when she’s not on the screen, she’s rallying for women’s rights, the rights of animals, and a lot of other important issues. I really admire her for not caring if her stances affect her fan base. She is unapologetically herself, and I hope to be in a position one day where I can try to make a difference.

I would like to thank Lindsey for taking part, You can see her in Back Fork Movie - Coming soon.
