The Odyssey- My thoughts

Trying to put into words, The masterpiece of the Odyssey. 

This is one of Nolan's best films to date. 

I went into the Odyssey only knowing the basics of Greek mythology and not quite sure what to expect. And I can honestly same I was mind blown. And I can not get this film out of my head ,Nolan knows how to put a complex deep story on our screens and makes it look so easy. 

The films star studded cast, Matt Damon (Odysseus) Anne Hathaway (Penelope ) Tom Holland (Telemachus) Robert Pattinson (Antinous) Jon Bernthal(Menelaus) Zendaya (Athena) Charlize Theron (Calpyso) All give tremendous performances, I think it will shock people and how little some of the big names are in this film. But each left their marks with every scene. 

But for me the stand out characters of this film was Odysseus men. Himesh Patel (Eurylochus) , Josh Stewart (Antiphates) , Sean Aveary (Laodamas), Andrew Howard (Polites) Logan Marshall Green (Melanthius) , Will lun Lee (Anchialus) 

For me I felt like I was watching the film from their point of view , Every wave, every fight, feeling of fear and death. They truly were the stars of the film. Drawing us into see these men follow their King and find there way home, knowing in the end there was no going home. 

The extreme lengths the actors went through for these roles is like no other. The learning to sail, to months spent filming on boats in all weather conditions, travelling the world. Only adds to the storytelling of what makes this film a masterpiece.

Nolan was not shy to give his horror twist on the Greek gods, some scenes were difficult to watch for many , But enticing the audience to understand to true meaning of the what breaking Zeu's Law means to those who betray it. 

If you're looking to watch a harrowing, story- telling genius this film is for you. 

From cyclops, giants , witches and sea monsters, this film keeps on giving in every act.
